May Meetings Program 

It’s warming up! One way we thought we could ease the summer heat knitting is to introduce you all to the Master Handknitters Program offered through TKGA. 

Please come prepared for the morning and/or evening meeting with a ball of light colored worsted weight yarn and appropriate needle size. 

At our evening meeting we have a guest speaker, Marcia owns a professional repair business and will share some of her profession with us. 

We will also be going over Board nominations and the upcoming election. 

Our open positions and their descriptions:

Duties of the Officers

a. President:

  • Attends and runs monthly guild membership meetings

  • Keeps the printer/paper and prints the monthly meeting program as well as all needed handouts

  • Attends and runs monthly guild board meetings

  • Appoints standing committees to be established by the local guild

  • Ex- officio member of any committee  

b. Vice-President:

  • Serve as the chairman of the local guild’s program committee should such committee be established

  • Vice-President will act in place of the President in her/his absence or upon request by the President

c. Secretary:

  • Keep minutes of all proceedings of meetings of the membership

  • Keep minutes of all proceedings of meetings of the Board of Directors

  • The Secretary shall take care of correspondence at the direction of the Board of Directors

  • The Secretary shall keep accurate record of members in good standing, together with their current contact information

d. Treasurer:

  • Shall receive and disburse all monies

  • Present a statement of the current financial condition at all meetings of the Board of the local guild

  • The Treasurer shall record all funds made available to the guild; shall keep written record of all transactions involving the guild in the guild treasurer’s book and present to the membership an itemized annual report.

e. Board of Directors will focus on Education: shall plan the educational programs.

f. Board of Directors will focus on Membership: shall plan activities to promote current

membership in Wichita Knitters’ Guild and shall plan events to recruit new membership.


  1. Media:

  • Shall keep the website, Facebook page, Instagram, & Twitter updated with current events, photos, and news

  • Shall send out monthly email with monthly membership meeting information

TKGA Master Handknitters Program Grace Period Info

Grace Period Ends 5/10/2017 to Request Instruction Updates 

Those members working on a level of the MHK program can get a copy of the most current directions which are dated 5/10/16 by contacting Carolyn Vance at 

 Co-Chairs strongly suggest that all those working on the MHK program have the most current set of directions available for their level. We will continue to offer copies of the 5/10/16 directions to eligible members free of charge until 5/10/17. On 5/11/17, an update fee of $8 will go into effect.

After 5/10/17, all participants should be working to the 5/10/16 directions. Submissions sent in using any set of previously dated instructions will be returned. Everyone is urged to check the copy of their directions and update if necessary. Remember, it is your responsibility to be sure you are current. Keeping up with the program is a Master Knitter skill. 

Master Knitters can always request and receive updates free of charge for any or all levels by contacting Those working through the program can also receive and request copies of updated instructions for levels that have been passed free of charge. To receive these copies you will need to be a member in good standing.
