Morning WKG Meeting Canceled

Tomorrow’s morning Wichita Knitters’ Guild meeting is canceled.

Our evening meeting will still be held at the usual time and place.
Stay safe!

February Meetings

This month’s program is on finishing techniques.

If you would like to bring some of your finished, or unfinished, items that have a finishing technique you would like to share during Show + Share, please do!

February is the final morning meeting we will hold.

From March forward we will only have an evening meeting from 6-8pm, with a social time from 4-5:45pm.

This is the new Board’s first month in office, please welcome them!

Thank you for your patience during the transition.

January 2019 Election Results

Thanks to all that voted in our annual Wichita Knitters’ Guild Board elections.

Our new board as elected:

President – Lynlee Weber
Vice-President – Candice Patton
Secretary – Connie Gordon
Treasurer – Belinda Kidd

We also voted on canceling the monthly morning meeting.
It was a close vote, but it was a vote to cancel the morning meeting.

What this means, the old + new board will meet next week for the handover of responsibilities and at that time it will be decided if the morning meeting will be held in February.
It also means that from March on we will only have the Tec-novation Center room at the Advanced Learning Library downtown from 4 – 8pm, every third Wednesday of the month.
We are keeping a couple of hours open for community knitting before the evening meeting. You are more than welcome to visit & knit from 4 – 6pm before the evening meeting begins.

If you cannot drive to the evening meeting, or would just like to carpool, please let the board know and we will absolutely help set up ride sharing. Or feel free to coordinate with your fellow members.

October Meetings

When: October 17th

Where: Advanced Learning Library 711 W 2nd St N, Wichita, KS 67203

Times: 10:30am-12:30pm + 6-8pm

What to Bring, What We Are Doing

Resources + How to Use Them
We will be going over different resources that we can use + learn from in our knitting.
Please bring any books, magazines, and/or names of websites, podcasts, vlogs, Youtube channels, etc that you use in your knitting.
Do you have a specific place you go for a refresher on a stitch technique or repair? Share it!
Do you have a favorite designer that you feel has expanded your knitting knowledge? Share it!
We all go to different places for different issues in our knitting; knowledge + skill building, fixing mistakes, refreshers on the basics.

We’ll hopefully have the overhead projector this month, but no guarantee, so plan on taking notes!!

Just a reminder, November is our charity knitting month so think ahead and work on some donations!
GUYS!!!! HELP CALL OUT!!!! A friend of Teresa’s who is a nurse at a children’s hospital in Miami is in desperate need of blankets for bereavement care. These blankets are used to cover the child’s wounds and medical equipment while the family says goodbye for the last time.

The friend made contact with me because one of her children died last week and she was unable to provide him with a blanket and was utterly heartbroken about it.

Blankets can be any color combination (please though nothing too dark or gloomy) and can be knit, crocheted, or quilted.

Size needed is lap quilt down to baby quilt size.

If you have some extra blankets hanging around that could go to a grieving family, please let Teresa Lee know. She’d love to pick them up from you and get them sent off. Biggest need right now is boy or neutral but girl will work as well if you have it and want to send it! THANK YOU!

Looking forward to seeing you all at the meetings!
